Hurrah--I'm Back On HuffPo!

My Blog, which was deleted from the Huffington Post today, is back up again!

I don't know what made this happen, but I think HuffPo just made a brave move.

Here is the link: A Troll* inside Huffington Post?

I posted a comment about wanting to hear from HuffPo on it considering at this point the point raised about the ratings system there necessitates it.

One of the thinks I absolutely hate about Huffpo is how freaking big a crap shoot it is to have your comments posted there. I can't tell you how many times I've posted commentary that never appeared, or commentary that took hours to appear.

You lost an article, and gained it back again, can the hundreds of Huffpo posters regain their lost comments -- hardly.

That and that I really think that what's needed there is a message board. Blog comments are substandard for discussions yet that's what so many fruitlessly keep attempting, myself included.

Please keep us up to date on what happens. I'm hooked.

uhh...I hate to say this, but your new article is now gone from the home page. It lasted about an hour as far as I can tell.I have seen articles under Most Recent last all day......Unless you can get through to somebody up there...I dont think we will be seeing your stuff on Huffpo for very long

I agree, something is wrong and Arianna needs to be directly contacted and if you have a phone number, or direct email or some other way of reaching her, something is going on at Huffingtonpost and it really stinks.

After your expose of the employee things are now beginning to make sense as to why certain posters are allowed to constantly make obscene and profane comments without any risk of being deleted.

I think the GOP got to some employees and offered them a lot of money.

Please let us know if Arianna is notified and what she says.

I forgot to mention, you've been deleted again.

Hello Dr.Rost.....
First let me say your latest travails are a little too "busy" for my dim wit to absorb. But I would like to make a comment or two about the Huffington web site. I find it a little sad and disheartening that a major, purportedly progressive site, is operated with such manipulation, censorship, and disdain for it's participants. The clumsy attempts to choreograph and direct who gets on and when have sent me packing. In spite of legions of complaints, they find no need to address the fundamental bedrock of the blogosphere, free, heartfelt expression of ideas.. So much mindless, incoherent, often obscene, infantile blather permeates the site and seems to have no problem getting posted. But if you have a serious thought or write in complete sentences, you are immediately suspect and, of course, flagged. Maybe you get posted hours later, even a day later, or never. After seeing countless posts beginning with "Oh Arianna, that was masterful" or "Arianna, you make my day" or my personal favorite, and apparently Arianna's" "Arianna, brilliant as always." So why don't I just shut up and go somewhere else? Well, I have, but there's another reason. A major "progressive" blog, using celebrity as a draw, sucks the oxygen out of the available space. She is perpetrating a fraud. So many bloggers, many of whom have important and fascinating things to say, believe they are reaching an audience which will freely exchange their thoughts with the author. If they knew that the feedback is not spontaneous and honest, but fed through a prism of Mz Huffington's personal pique, they might question the authenticity of the forum. Even their "contact us" link is a phony. Dozens of e-mails requesting explanations or guidance get the Marie Antoinette treatment.

Finally, (mercifully you're thinking) the sadness comes from my disappointment of unrequited respect and admiration I once had for Arianna. While being a macho man, I have always felt a kinship and empathy for women who came out of the shadows of rich and powerful men ala Ivana Trump, "Jackie", and our Mz. Huffington.
Thanks for your patience, and if you have any influence and/advice I'm all ears.

Hi Dr. Rost, I enjoy your blog, keep up the good work!

The poster who says his/her comments don't appear on Huffpo is probably not being censored - in general, if someone takes more than a few minutes to compose and edit their reply, in an open reply box (remember, the login is controlled by a cookie) their cookie is "timing out" while they are composing the mother of all posts.

The "timeout" feature is a security measure, not a conspiracy to censor unpopular or irreverent posts.

Ironically, by writing thoughtfully or passionately at length, the poster contributes to their post not appearing.

The cure is simple: Compose long screeds in Notepad, Word or any text editor, and then paste into Huffpo's reply box (Control + V for those who are used to using the 'paste' button) or keep replies short and to the point if composing directly in the reply box.

I loved the Huffpo troll outing post. Will there be an update?

Dear Mr. Rost,

I was able to get in a post or two to your blog at Huffingtonpost.com (the one about the Rendon Group as I posted the Rolling Stone article link and the additional links about Bamford as well). Huffingtonpost.com has been banning me for making posts about Mearsheimer and Walt (and similar) like the following one:

Why aren't we discussing this Mearsheimer/Walt segment on the pro-Israel lobby which aired on C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' this morning?:

Huffingtonpost.com just banned me again within minutes for posting the following to http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-love/the-freedom-to-blog-on-th_b_23712.html?p=2#comments as there is incredible censorship going on there:

The following was posted in the comments section of the various blog entries by Peter Rost via http://peterrost.blogspot.com

Just noticed that Huffingtonpost.com even removed the above post from http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-love/the-freedom-to-blog-on-th_b_23712.html?p=2#comments after I was banned for making it just minutes ago.

They are censoring anything on Israel because, the Zionists know the jig is up thats obvious.

Israel and the Zionists can't hide or play the blame game now that they've ruined our country, via neocon intervention.

Those losers are all the same now, just like the trolls such as returnofdrevil2, Al Rogers, Nan Ellen of the Daily "KOS" propaganda press.

Very much agree with the above.. My HPCensoringBigTime Username was just banned at Huffingtonpost.com for posting on pages 1 and 2 of the comments at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2006/06/24/excia-aide-reveals-new-d_n_23738.html about the Zionist war for Israel agenda and the Mearsheimer/Walt paper on the pro-Israel lobby segment which aired on C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' program this past Friday..

Abraham Foxman (of the ADL) was hammered hard by the caller (a lady with the Brit accent calling from London) on C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' this morning as she mentioned the USS Liberty attack/cover-up (http://www.ussliberty.org) and Paul Findley's 'There Dare to Speak Out' book and Jim Bamford's 'A Pretext for War' book as well (both the Mearsheimer/Walt and Abraham Foxman segments can be viewed online via the links at the following URL):
