ABSOLUT ICEBAR STOCKHOLM

So by now you know that I'm visiting my native Sweden this week.

Right now it is about fifty-five degrees, so a lot warmer than New York.

And this is, of course, a great disappointment to all those tourists expecting polar bears on the streets.

But the Swedes, being a crafty people, came up with the solution.

If the tourists want ice--we'll give them ice!

In fact, we give them Europe's coolest bar – ABSOLUT ICEBAR STOCKHOLM at Nordic Sea Hotel.

ABSOLUT ICEBAR STOCKHOLM is the world’s first permanent ice bar, right in the heart of Stockholm. The interior is kept at -5°C or about 22°F all year round. All of the interior fittings, including the glasses, are made of pure, clear ice from the Torne River in northern Sweden.

Here are some pictures.

And how do you know there are mostly tourists and very few Swedes in those pictures?

I'll give you a clue . . . not enough blondes.

Glasses must be disposable... hmmm. Wonder what that does to the cost. Enjoy your visit

If they use air cooling units for this then it just really sucks! We're wasting enough energy as it is, hence the unseasonable warm temperatures. No need to make it even worse for the sake of a silly tourist attraction.
