I read about comments on my blog in which readers have been blocked from posting on Huffington Post. And you can't just switch identity, since HuffPo and many other sites track your IP address and block any comments from an IP address they have deemed "unworthy."
So what can you do? Easiest is to do what I've been forced to do during this time when my internet is down--go to Starbucks or Panera or some other place with public internet access and use their wireless network. They all have different IP addresses and you may not be blocked.
If you want to permanently cloak yourself, you can also use software such as anonymizer, at least if you are not on a network, and you can select whatever IP or identity you want to have.
HuffPo can't stop that. This tip came courtesy of one very liberal HuffPo reader who was blocked and is happily back replying on HuffPo every day. She has asked to remain anonymous.
She also told me the following happened after she switched "identity:"
My new moniker "/CUT/" has made "Best of" a bunch of times - I don't know - maybe a dozen. Sometimes it happens pretty quickly. But I've noticed that *only* comments that are made very soon after an article is posted EVER get included in "Best of". In other words you might've made the wittiest comment in the world but if you don't do it soon after the article appears it will *never* make it into the "Best of", which is a shame because there are many great comments posted later on in the life of a particularly controversial or long-lasting topic."
One of many ironies over at HuffPo, I guess, but very much supports my suspicions in my blog, "A Troll* inside Huffington Post?"

There is another place as well called SECURE-TUNNEL.
And it works from what I hear. Both about the same price which to be honest is pretty cheap. About a hundred bucks a year for total anonymity.
The sites guarantee there is no way for anyone to find you under any circumstances.
I use them sparingly but it's worth it.
I sure hope Arianna is hearing about this, she must at least have heard from one of her employees who is monitoring her site.
What do people think of Tor? Is it effective?
re: your anonymous commenter's comments:
it is perfectly logical that nearly all of the "best of..." comments come from the first page of comments, especially when there are more than 3 pages of comments. if you find a long thread and read thru it entirely, it's very plain to see that most people who post responses do NOT read the whole thing. i suspect that this 'conspiracy' of all the "best of..." comments being from the very beginning is actually just a symptom of modern human nature: we don't have the time or patience to bother with something like reading all the other comments before voting for the "best" one. i doubt this is an actual conspiracy.
...now, the whole being banned thing is different, and my comment above should not be interpreted as wholesale support for HP. while i was disgusted by the 'baby bird' thread and thought the 'my-friend-is-having-an-affair' thread was a waste of your time and ours, i WAS fond of your posts about big pharma, politics or other *important* matters. i do hope that this whole thing will get straightened out when AH gets back to the US.
for the most part, i think you've handled yourself well, dr. rost. some 'whistleblowers' get whiny and victim-y when retaliated against. your response has been mature, reasoned and well-documented. bravo.
best of luck to you and yours.
I use TOR and so far I like it. Plus it's free.
I set my homepage to ipchicken.com to show me the ip address I'm using and it's fairly dynamic.
Dear Mr. Rost,
I was able to get in a post or two to your blog at Huffingtonpost.com (the one about the Rendon Group as I posted the Rolling Stone article link and the additional links about Bamford as well). Huffingtonpost.com has been banning me for making posts about Mearsheimer and Walt (and similar) like the following one:
Why aren't we discussing this Mearsheimer/Walt segment on the pro-Israel lobby which aired on C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' this morning?:

The following includes the comments page at which I posted what was mentioned above:

Huffingtonpost.com just banned me again within minutes for posting the following to http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-love/the-freedom-to-blog-on-th_b_23712.html?p=2#comments as there is incredible censorship going on there:

Just noticed that Huffingtonpost.com even removed the above post from http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-love/the-freedom-to-blog-on-th_b_23712.html?p=2#comments after I was banned for making it just minutes ago.

They are censoring anything on Israel because, the Zionists know the jig is up thats obvious.
Israel and the Zionists can't hide or play the blame game now that they've ruined our country, via neocon intervention.
Those losers are all the same now, just like the trolls such as returnofdrevil2, Al Rogers, Nan Ellen of the Daily "KOS" propaganda press.

Very much agree with the above.. My HPCensoringBigTime Username was just banned at Huffingtonpost.com for posting on pages 1 and 2 of the comments at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2006/06/24/excia-aide-reveals-new-d_n_23738.html about the Zionist war for Israel agenda and the Mearsheimer/Walt paper on the pro-Israel lobby segment which aired on C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' program this past Friday..
Abraham Foxman (of the ADL) was hammered hard by the caller (a lady with the Brit accent calling from London) on C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' this morning as she mentioned the USS Liberty attack/cover-up (http://www.ussliberty.org) and Paul Findley's 'There Dare to Speak Out' book and Jim Bamford's 'A Pretext for War' book as well (both the Mearsheimer/Walt and Abraham Foxman segments can be viewed online via the links at the following URL):
