The AstraZeneca newsletter that keeps on giving . . .

I have during the past month featured AstraZeneca's ZubeGate, then I revealed AstraZeneca's Pink CupcakeGate, and today I'm announcing AstraZeneca's SpeakerGate. And I'm not implying there's anything wrong with any of this, that's something others are more qualified to do . . . I'm just showing you how the system works.

Today we'll turn to the bottom right part of page 7. There AstraZeneca has helpfully provided us with an accounting of just how much certain "independent doctors" speak on the Oncology division's behalf.

And number one (drumroll please) is Dr. Freedland from Duke University. He spoke a whopping 68 times in 2006 and already did another 21 programs in 2007 for AstraZeneca, by the time the newsletter was printed "Winter 2007."

AstraZeneca doesn't tell us how much they're paying Dr. Stephen Freedland for all his help. But industry standard is to pay doctors in the range of $2,000 - $3,000 for such presentations.

So let's assume he gets top dollars. That means he could've made in the range of $180,000 to $270,000 during this time period. Just for touting AstraZeneca's product.
