Congress told there would be Martial Law if bailout didn't pass.
Look at an article in the Toronto Sunday Star by Thomas Wolkom (see on line). In it he gives a good analysis what USA can and may do after the collapse of the so called "free" capitalism practiced to the extreme in USA. What direction is USA going to take: The Chinese authoritarian capitalism or Swedesh style social capitalism as two most successful and somewhat opposite types. One thing foe sure this mess can not go on any longer for USA messes up the world economy almost on regular basis by their boom and bust style of economy. This economy is designed primarily to enrich the small segment of society while the rest live in relative or absolute poverty. One 100 million Americans live in at or below poverty level. No other country in the western world has such high % of poor as USA. Sweden and other Scandinavian countries are dacades ahead of USA in almost everything. Even their cars are much prettier and greener let alone factories and officies etc. etc. America is in fact a pathetic country and this collapse has open up the wound and showed the world that USA is just a facade behind which a very evil entity is hiding. Hopefully with Obama this will change. He is the last hope for America to join the rest of the world as decent and respected country. Martial law in America? Would not surprise anyone after what current prez did in terms of disregarding the really great American constitution etc etc. These last 8 years will go down in history as the most shameful years in almost any country. There is only one that had a worse period in their history and that is Germany.
