Excellent piece:

Thank you Peter for posting this!

I'm at work now and can't watch this but I definatley don't think Bush is the worst president. I think he has really good intentions but is just having some problems and not getting enough support do accomplish his mission. I am a little eager to see what comes of the next presidency though.

Trump can be respected for this. Sure he's a billionaire but that doesn't necessarily mean you speak your mind as negatively and as publically as he did here.

Not only do I now respect Trump more than I ever thought, I am also hopeful that America is slowly comming to terms with the many mistakes made and finds ways of doing good again. like, fast.

We blame Bush, but we are the ones who picked him. The fault is not in our leaders it is in ourselves. Let's get honest here. We liked Bush because he used the death penalty every day. He liked to kill. What did we think was going to happen? The problem is we are going to elect someone just like him again. We want another Ronald Reagan. Bush will be a hero compared to the next guy. This country has a death wish.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, this is Donald Trump. Would he have said this if it wouldn't somehow benefit himself in a way? I agree with what he said, and I appreciate that he said it, but come on now, if he had said this vocally say 5 years ago, then I'd have a lot more respect for him. Saying this now is just preaching to the choir. Everyone with any brains feels this way at this point. Still, the more people talking like this, the better.

Anonymous said...

Man I really do not like Donald Trump...but I can only agree 100% with him on this one.

"I think he has really good intentions but is just having some problems and not getting enough support do accomplish his mission."

Isn't there a saying that goes something like: The way to hell is paved with good intentions...

Unknown said...

geek180 I have one time honoured saying for you.

"the road to hell is pathed with good intentions"

While I'm not a religious man I think this saying does have a lot of basis in reality. Just because you may have good intentions (whatever they may be)

Why doesn't he get impeached?

Bill Clinton just screwed one girl. This president's actions have screwed millions!

Anonymous said...

...and about the American people actually electing this president by popular vote: I seriously doubt it.

Both the times he got elected, it was only by a slight margin. At the very least, even in the remote chance that there were no electoral improprieties, close to half the countyr was thinking right!

Unknown said...

Just another reason...TRUMP RULZ!
Man this guy is right on the money....let's hope Bush sees this and believes.

Clinton was impeached for perjury, not for sex.

But damn, impeach this guy already. We've finished our experiment into seeing what kind of leader the Nascar generation chooses, now let's move on to someone with a brain.

Vote for Ron Paul in 2008.

This is actually a very gutsy move for someone in real estate development. All it takes is a couple of denied permits to cost him millions.

Anonymous said...

To Cat Travis, we did not pick him! He stole the election - TWICE!

I clearly remember Gore winning the popular vote in 2000 yet the electoral college gave it to Bush.

Florida voters screwed up allowing the electoral college to choose Bush in 2000 and it happened again with Ohio in 2004.

It is said an electoral college exists to choose a President because the people are not well informed or educated enough to properly choose a President. Looks like the EC are 0 for 2 and it should be abolished.

That's what I'm talking about, no rubbish, just pure plain facts. It's a shame the people in charge of USA don't all think like Mr Trump and have the balls to talk out. Your country is sooo fcked!!! Poor USA. ;-)

Um.... Daylight savings time started 3 weeks early and will last one week later. Other than that... no, no I can't think of anything(significant). Umm, Social Security... nope, War on Terror... not really, War in Iraq... oh god... Foreign Relations... what relations?... Global Warming... "it doesn't exist" :( I dunno, Trump may be on to something. I guess the bright side is it's almost 2008 and the next guy can't possibly be as bad or worse... well, I hope not.

Bush couldn’t wipe his own ass if he had the runs... Just look at New Orleans, too little too late. Trump told the truth as everyone’s see it just no one wants to face out to the fact.

What is wrong with your country your so polarized... two parties come on people? Find some middle ground.

Stop playing in to these partisan politics, think for yourselves vote for yourselves. Don't vote for
a guy because he isn't like the other guy. Form
some new parties with everyones best interests at
heart.

No wonder your country perceptions is so pour.

Your all stuck in an argument you can't win becuase you have lost your peoples power by
echoing the talking points of your elected reps.

If Mr. Trump says one thing... so what? Go out and
say we want change for both "liberals" and "conservatives" but we want those changes to reflect a reasonable middle ground.

Divide and conquer is not a street crossing in Iraq.
It's a reality in America today.

@Cat Travis - America didn't pick George Bush. Al Gore won the election, he had the most votes.

Anonymous said...

Interesting reading here, people. Personally, I was a republican all my life but I watched 1 (only one) of the television debates between Gore and Bush and I though Gore came across 10 times smarter than G.W. However, all of the political analysts said the debates were abot even...so I was left scratching my head not understanding what they were talking about. Then, Gore seemingly won the election until Gov. Jeb Bush announced "woah! hold on, all the votes haven't been tallied yet in norther florida" which is his own locale (tallahasee area) and the whole thing seemed REALLY fishy to me. Then, after the 2004 election the big story was the exit poll interviews, everyone citing "family values" as why they voted for Bush. Huh? What? I don't even know what people meant by that. Either those elections were both majorly rigged by the republican party, or a vast number of the american people really let us down. Family values? Give me a break. Politics are not the same thing as an episode of the Cosby Show. People in america and in the "red states" need to wake up and start using their brains. Vote for the man, not for the party. People who live in the "red states" have basically taken everything that's great about democracy, and flushed it down the toilet.

Anonymous said...

like one comment i read... why dont u impeach him? clinton got impeached for being a pimp and screwing one girl but bush is messing everthing up and hes still in office.. funny huh?

Anonymous said...

I love how some people think that if Bush had more support, things would be better. It's like saying that if we all started to believe that the earth is flat, it would become reality. If you're on the wrong path, the only difference 'more support' will make is that it will be a bit easier to kid yourself to believe the delusion.

Bush is on the wrong path, and so is America. Bush doesn't understand himself - he obviously doesn't know what he is saying - therefore he cannot understand global issues. A man that does not understand global issues is trying to make global decisions, and that is a recipe for disaster under any circumstances.

Unknown said...

wow the teflon don was right on the money on this one. Now if i can get him to support Ron Paul and contribute 2his campaign, we might have a chance at being a Constitutional Repulic again!

Many people today in the relative safety of the American homeland don't realize that we can't just declare an end to things over in Iraq or Afghanistan. It is arrogant and juvenile, and ignores common sense and reality, for us to think that we can control our withdrawal from this global struggle against this enemy simply by leaving there. When that happens, you will have so many things vindicated about what those radical Islamic "return-to-Sharia" factions think and have said. The political hay they will make when our legislative branch starves our military and executive branch from conducting this struggle will make American politicians look like amateurs - if nothing else, those people are good at staying on message of their hate for everything that doesn't lead to the return of a Caliphate. We cannot control the terms of this struggle - we never have. They are the aggressor, and we are in this for the long haul whether we like it or not. When will people realize that these people want to kill of all our wives and children? They would fight each other for the privilege of raping and murdering your daughters and wives. Crazy enough to sound almost melodramatic, but that is the strength of their argument - to frame it for what it is calls your credibility into question.

It is naive that the American government has control over this struggle. When you invade someone's country, it is the same commitment as having a baby - 20 years at least. We are still in Korea and Europe. Who thinks this will be different? You have to re-establish (or establish) institutions and shepherd a whole new generation of people through the trial period - history has born that out, even in our own nation, which took decades to settle into a sustainable rhythm. The idea of walking away from your four-year-old and saying "time to fend for yourself" is about as silly as leaving a country that, like it or not, we are on the hook to rebuild. Someone present a sensible counter-argument, please. For a good look at the mentality of those aiming to establish global Sharia, consult Mary Habeck's "Knowing the Enemy" - an excellent insight into the history and motivations of these people.

Thank G-d Mr. Donald "trumpets" the truth on this one. Puleese... how dummed down has America become that aguy like G.W. Bush can run it into the ground. It is not a Republican or Democrat failure its a collective faux pas. Impeach the crook-like someone once said"all the criminals in their coats & their ties, are free to drink martinis & watch the sun rise"

Anonymous said...

"They are the aggressor"

Umm...what? No, the united states is the aggressor. Iraq had no ties to 9/11.

Are you honestly trying to claim that , if we don't blow them up and maim them and kill their families and make them live in fear, that them blowing themselves up is really something we're concerned for? "I'd hate for someone else to be the bully so I'll do it."?

At this point either we kill them or they kill themselves...it's game over and their deaths will be on america's head. We need to get out now and let things resolve themselves like britain did with the middle east not so long ago and failed at too. It doesn't make it the right solution, but it doesn't make it the wrong solution either.

Bush is the anti-Republican. Huge governemnt, lacks respect for the military, expansionistic and fiscally irresponsible.

Anonymous said...

The US is not fighting Iraq, which is what your comment suggests. We are fighting groups whose aim is to destabilize the region and push out the weak hands so they can make convincing recruiting videos and grow an army to re-establish the Caliphate and gradually coerce the world to bow to Muhammad or convert to Islam. Does anyone not think that?

The United States is acting according to a reasoned doctrine of pre-emption, which considers the pending actions of a terrorist organization (that will be damaging to the interests of the United States) to be a worthy impetus to interdict (or more generally, frustrate) those actions.

Let's make it personal. A man thinks your wife is responsible for him losing his job and starts watching your house, because he is "not going to take this lying down." In fact, he has sent you videotapes in the mail about what he will do to your wife and children if he gets a chance. If you see him staking out your house, are you going to do anything about it? He hasn't assaulted you or your family yet, but he has essentially promised to. How long will you allow the situation to remain in that state? In this scenario, you have recourse because you live in a society that respects the rule of law. In the case of a pending terrorist attack, what recourse is there, other than to frustrate the plans of those who would inflict the terror? I will finish this diversion by saying that this global war on terror ought to be considered personal for everyone who lives free - these groups would come after you eventually.

Because this enemy is amoral, and whose means of defense considers innocents as armor and camouflage, pre-emption is a rational approach to combat the problem. Do you have a more resaoned one? Is your approach to wait for the attack - again? As for damage done to Iraqis and other non-combatants, the US forces' treatment and regard for them is honorable, almost to a man. A few people in the force flipping out and breaking the laws of war and causing damage to innocents does not invalidate the doctrine of pre-emption, or our implementation of it. Those are part of the horror of war - horrible, no doubt, but not as horrible as a free people with the ability to wage a competent defense against them and choosing not to. I am reminded of a nineteenth-century quote from John Stuart Mill that I had to memorize a long time ago at the Air Force Academy: "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state that thinks nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

As for "letting things resolve themselves," if you think our pulling out will result in a protracted struggle in Iraq, where they will shoot each other up in the streets of Baghdad, and we sort of bail out and take our ball home, then I reject your anticipated outcome. The terrorists won't be fighting there anymore, because there will be no enemy to fight after the country defaults into corrupt hands (which I predict will happen within six months). What will the terrorists do? Set up camp and train and calculate how they will bring the battle to us, or go to a place better suited for it. It is us they hate, because of what we stand for. They don't really care a whit about Iraq except that it is the heart of the ideological struggle. Where we are is where the ideological struggle is. The response being presented in this blog (essentially without argumentative basis, or brought to a plausible outcome by anyone) is patently absurd. Who really thinks they will leave the United States and our interests (which includes the struggle for freedom around the world) alone when we leave the region? They themselves won't leave us alone - indeed, they can't - they are pregnant on our very technology to wage the war. What a horrible position to be in - you need the health of the enemy's state, and the fruits of their society - to wage your battle against them. What does that say about the weakness of their position?

Sorry - a correction to the quote above: Mill's quote reads, "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling that thinks nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

"Bush is the greatest president ever, we will win."

You'll win??? You'll win WHAT? What is there left to be won? You won't win by bodycount, thats for shure. You won't win the "great friggin war on terrorism" either. I ask you, do you actually know what you are fighting for? Is it for truth, for honour or for peace? I guess it is neither of the above.

There is, as i take it, only one way for the US to make things right with the rest of the world. Firstof, he should resign. Second, he should go personally apoligise to all the familymembers who suffered the loss of a relative during his war, both in Iraq and US forces. Third: he bury all the bodies himself, paying for whatever funeral the families might desire. Four: he should go to every country in the world, including his own, to confess all what he has done and ask forgiveness for these things, after that a public vote should be done in each country to determine if they want to accept his forgiveness. And finally: he should be trialed as a warcriminal for the illegal start of war, for lying, and for killing. If he has finally received his punishment for the warcrimes he committed, he should be sent out to talk in schools to children not older than 9, to speak to them over how not to live, and how it's like to be a failure. To inspire future Americans to know that they should not fear their government, the government should fear them.

"We are fighting groups whose aim is to destabilize the region and push out the weak hands so they can make convincing recruiting videos and grow an army to re-establish the Caliphate and gradually coerce the world to bow to Muhammad or convert to Islam"

And that's a fact, Jack. The worst president these United States ever had was Jimmy Carter. He's the one who turned everything he touched in a scant four years into piles of ash. He's the one who turned his back on the Shah, a 35 year ally of this country, and by doing so, left the door open for the mullahs and their puppet president(s) to take control. That in turn lead to fear in Iraq, since the majority are from a different Muslim sect - which gave opened the door for Saddam Hussein to come to power.

Have any of you people seriously studied any history here?? Do you have an inkling of what would happen to this country, not to mention the free world, if Saddam had been left in power? He'd have his jackboot on our oil jugular vein. Go ahead and spout "no blood for oil" - but remember what happened after Katrina, only one week without local oil sources, and see what happened to prices in your grocery store, amongst other places.

Saddam violated the UN treaties he supposedly negotiated into in good faith, not once, not twice, but seventeen times. That and not allowing the UN inspectors in - hell yeah we had to go in!

Wow....Donald Trump and Ron Paul, what a combination!

To win a war, you have to first be able to define the term "winning". It appears that every reasonable definition of "winning" this war has evaporated right along with the WMD.

Yes, starting a war is like having a kid: long term commitment. Too bad that Bush lied about this one too, and convinced the red necks that the US will be "in and out, embraced as liberators".

What do I suggest the US does? Well, for one stop looking for the impossible, the big V. When you lose a war, all your options suck. The US has lost the war, and is left to choose between bad and awful choices. The longer the real tough decisions are delayed, the worse the US will fare (sp?) as a country.

Have Bush stand for one last time, this time not only in front of the nation, but the world too, and appologise, then resign. Start paying your debt to the world, instead of digging a deeper hole. Ask the world what it needs for relations to be rebuilt, and for forgiveness.

He has been nothing more than a disgrace for our country. I was horrified to find out. The whole truth of the Bush Legacy is more horrifying than any thing I could have imagined. Start with Skull and Bones and work your way Bush once said in a speech, "the hijackers were instruments evil, who died in vain. behind them is a cult of evil, who seeks to harm the innocent and thrives on human suffering. Theirs is the worst kind of cruelty the cruelty that is fed not weakened by tears. theres is the worst kind of violence. pure malice while bearing claim the authority of God. We cannot fully understand the designs and power of evil. it is enough to know that evil, like goodness exists. and in the terrorist evil has found a willing servant." It sends chills up my spine every time I hear that speech, now that i am fully aware by just what he meant by those very words.

A little history lesson:

Saddam Hussein came to power in Iraq as the result of a coup, assisted by the CIA. America wanted Hussein in power because the dposed Abd al-Karim Qasim was becoming friendlier with the Soviets.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdul_Karim_Qassim

Besides this, Saddam Hussein's Baath Party was secular and progressive, not Islamic or fundamentalist.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ba%27ath_Party

Though this is no excuse, the brutal tactics used by his regime against segments of his own population seem to have been aimed at holding together a country of three disparate peoples who might left to their own devices not really want to live together as one nation. A difficulty becoming plain to Americans today, and which Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Bush chose to ignore.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saddam_Hussein

It's disgusting to see "patriotism" stirred in the service of partisanship, and of bald self-interest.

What was once good and beautiful, or at least hopeful and inspiring about America is quickly dying. You have, in your ignorance, killed it.

There's a few comments here mentioning Bush being elected twice. He's only been elected once. In 2004.

In 2000 the Supreme Court (5 Rep, 4 Dem) voted to cancel the mandatory Florida recounts and appointed Bush as president elect. Analysis after the fact has suggested that Gore would have won the popular vote.

It is not the Bush Administration only that is wrong, its the policies which hawks like Nixon and Bush Sr. started that are responsible. Even in the past also, American policies have been dictated by business, no matter how much it harms other countries. They bred Saddam and Pakistaani Dictators, which eventually proved 'too hot to handle'....

Its the people who can make a difference...try being aware of your surroundings...i remember a saying in spiderman movie - 'with big power comes bigger responsibilities'
Hope US raises to its level sometime in the near future.

One thing that did not come out from that interview is the Bush administration is the most sofisticated crime organization that the world have ever seen. I can think of an immediate way to boost USA's global image...

Prosecute Bush for war crimes, and hand him a life in prison sentance or the death penalty.

Invading a country for no reason resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths. Shouldn't be that hard to do. Let it be known that this kind of leader will not be tolerated.

"Mission Accomplished"??

HaHaHaHa!!!! HaHaHaHaHa!!!!!!!!

GW Bush is definitely the worst president in history because HE is responsible for the fruitless and wasteful deaths of thousands of American citizen soldiers. Not one American life was worth dying in Iraq - NOT ONE!

Anonymous said...

What type of American supports the war in Iraq? There are still a few of them out there.

Here are the qualities I believe these type of people possess:

(1) Short Sighted - This type of person supports the president and the war because he has the inability to see the long-term consequences of our actions.

(2) Narrow Minded - This type of person supports the president and the war because he has the inability to see entire picture of what's going on globally.

(3) Selfish - This type of person supports the president and the war because he only cares about the safety of himself, and not a care in the world about the American soldiers or their families.

(4) Gullible - This type of person supports the president and the war because he is a simple minded religious nutcase, and has been easily deceived by the President. The president is a member of the satanic organization known as SKULL and BONES, by the way.

(5) Fantasy Land - This type of person supports the war and the president because the war is not real. The president and the war only exist on television and they are not real. This type of person has no sympathy or remorse for the people suffering because none of it is real.

(6) Pure Evil - This type of person supports the war and the president because he enjoys the thought of human life suffering.

(7) Rebel - This type of person supports the war and the president because it's opposite of the majority opinion. This type of person was opposed to Bush and the war when most everyone supported it. This type of person will always go in the opposite direction of the majority opinion. Usually, it is for entertainment purposes.

It would take a big man to admit he made a mistake. It would require courage and honesty.

GW BUSH obviously does not have these qualities.

He is the type of leader that would lead America to complete annihilation if he were allowed to rule indefinitely. Hitler had this same character flaw. It's an "ALL OR NOTHING" attitude.

I totally agree with Donald Trump. Bush is the worste, and is a big lie!!!!!!! He is a catastrophe and is the reason for every big problem in the Middle East. I do disagree on one thing; Condi isn't any better!!! She's just as bad as Bush! I also do believe that all American that agree with the war are in fantasy land, as someone posted on this site! They are in denial, and just living a whole lie!!!!!!! God help us all!!!!!

you cannot say that Bush is the worst president!!!. because by these words your giving him an honor which he is not deserve. but you can say that he is the most stupid person in the world.
on these days i become sure that when he decided to invade Iraq actually he meant Iran and as you notice the difference between the names of the two countries is only the last letter q)instead of (n).
so a stupid mistake from a stupid president lead to a disaster.
Iran now is working on deveoping a nuclear bomb and he is watching. but he invaded Iraq according to a lies and doubts. and caused all this destruction and the killing among american soliders. what a wise president ???!!!!!.
a final question if this is the level of the intellegent or clever of the president of the united states what about ordinary people.

re: The US is not fighting Iraq, which is what your comment suggests. We are fighting groups whose aim is to destabilize the region and push out the weak hands so they can make convincing recruiting videos and grow an army to re-establish the Caliphate and gradually coerce the world to bow to Muhammad or convert to Islam. Does anyone not think that?

...

You see, this is the problem with right wingers... they hold on to this ridiculous fantasy to justify their blatant corporate aggression. There is no 'caliphate' to take over the world. Sure, try and link to some nutjob saying that, and I will link to the aryan nation, saying the same thing except it is 'christians'. You see, there are extremists on both sides.. the problem is, the bush cronies have linked the extremism to main stream islam, to justify their imperial crusades. Wake up right wingers.

Hello all: I really don't know, i mean in my mind cannot exist the possibility and thought of why millions of americans about 50% of U.S. voters voted for Republican Party and neocons in 2004, after 4 years of complete fascist hell (2000-2004), maybe the problem was/is that many americans that voted for Bush and the ultra-right wing party that supports Bush-II (The Republican fascist Party) are members of right-wing churches (Baptist Southern Churches, Churches of Christ, Methodist Churches, Churches of God, Catholic Churches, and many other organizations and groups, and government-employees) that are mentally, spiritually, and ideologically loyal and thankful to the Republican Fascist Party and Bush-II, that is the sole reason why millions of US voters voted and might vote for Bush and any other republican fascist in 2008. 30 to 40% of americans still LOVE Bush, along with a 10-15% fraud votes that the Republican Fascist Party might get in 2008

We DIDN'T vote Bush into office--he STOLE both the 2000 and the 2004 elections. There are hard-core FACTS backing this up; but don't wait for the mainstream media to inform you of this, people--they think it's more important for you to know all about Anna Nicole Smith and Don Imus.

As for Bush's "good intentions"--yeah, he has good intentions, but only for his business buddies and cronies. As for the average American citizen? Forget about it. He thinks we're peons who deserve whatever we get if we can't afford to buy our way out of trouble.

I don't think Bush himself knew much about it before-hand, but the physical evidence, circumstantial evidence, and logical reasoning itself dictates that the 9/11 attacks were an INSIDE JOB, planned and orchestrated by an "invisible government" who pull the strings despite what We the People may vote for or care about. These oligarchs think their wishes & plans take precedence over everything else. In Sept. of 2000, the neo-cons were writing about how they needed "a new Pearl Harbor" to speed up their plans for America (the PNAC document entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses"--google it), and lo and behold, a year later they got their wish.

Building 7 is one important example of the proof. Yes, a third tower collapsed on Sept. 11th of 2001, although the 9/11 Commission's Report made ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION of it, and although the mainstream media rarely make ANY mention of it. Because its collapse proves that there were pre-planted thermate charges placed--yes, a controlled demolition. This proves not only foreknowledge of the attacks, but actual complicity in the attacks. An inside job. The fires burning in those buildings didn't burn hot enough to take down a steel structure--in fact, no raging fire has EVER brought down a steel-tower in the history of steel-towers. And even if a raging, white-hot fire DID bring down those towers, they would NOT have collapsed rapidly (nearly free-fall speed!) perfectly into their own footprints! Google Building 7 and watch the video, see with YOUR OWN EYES.

9/11 was a false-flag attack designed to justify invasion of the Middle East while rolling back civil liberties here in America. Hence the invasion of Iraq (which Cheney & Bush still justify by invoking 9/11), and the Patriot Act, which viciously attacks our Bill of Rights.

Investigate all the physical evidence of 9/11 before these neo-con war-mongers fake another terrorist attack and blame it on Iran. This could result in World War 3.

I can't help recalling a quote from Oliver Stone's movie 'Nixon' :

Nixon shuffles back alone, coming to a stop in front of a larger-than-life, full-length oil portrait of JOHN F. KENNEDY. Nixon studies the portrait, pads closer. Looks up.

NIXON
When they look at you, they see what they want to be.
(then)
When they look at me, they see what they are ...
