Pfizer VP in Legal Division Charged with Child Pornography.
Federal agents have charged Pfizer Inc.'s vice president and global head of patents, Alan Hesketh, 61, with receiving, distributing and possessing child pornography and are holding him without bond.
Hesketh's group is part of the legal division of Pfizer Inc.
He is accused of posing as a 28-year-old female while trading hundreds of images of children engaged in sexual acts.
He allegedly traded the images with a man from Buffalo, N.Y., while chatting with him online between June 2006 and May 2007.
The two men discussed, “among other things, the sexual molestation of children involving the use of human defecation,” according to a court document.
Hesketh allegedly used the screen name “Suzibibaby” during the online sessions.
Please note that his description of hair color (grey) doesn't quite match the image . . .
Federal agents found he signed on as “Suzibibaby” from his home in Stonington and from several other Internet addresses, including one registered to Pfizer in New York and another at the Tudor Hotel at the United Nations, where he was a guest for three days in December 2007.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Hesketh at JFK International Airport in New York on Wednesday.
Hesketh is a British citizen and a permanent resident of the United States, where he has lived since 2002. It did not appear he was trying to flee the country at the time of his arrest, according to a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office.
Hesketh was presented in U.S. District Court in Hartford on Thursday, where Judge Donna F. Martinez scheduled a bond hearing for Monday afternoon.
Pfizer spokeswoman Liz Power said Thursday that Hesketh, whose office is in New London, is on a leave of absence from the company.
“Pfizer will cooperate with authorities in any investigation,” she said.
If Hesketh is indicted and convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum 20 years for receiving and distributing child pornography and a maximum of 10 years in prison for possession of child porn. He also faces as much as $500,000 in fines.

Hmmm. Wonder if the guy was about to blow the whistle on something and has simply been slimed?
Nah, companies would never do that.
I'm glad they caught the creep!
I wonder if the resignation of Alan Waxman, the General Counsel, has anything to do with this
Re Waxman: I doubt it - he didn't seem that kind of guy. Waxman's resignation seems to be linked from Spitzer's indescretion to this sad and depressing story. If Waxman's resignation really was for innocent personal reasons I really do feel sorry for the guy. A bad time to resign!
No, not implying Waxman had anything to do with porn. I'd find that very hard to believe.
Just wondering if it became a management issue because Hesketh is alleged to have logged on from work.
Probably not related but the timing makes you wonder.
Completely unrelated...The woman who's picture he used may also be a victim of sorts. I wonder if she knows.
I dont believe any conspiracy theory that he was "set-up". According to the affidavit, the vast majority of his access occured from his home computer. He only used Pfizer access a couple of times.
However, I do wonder if Waxman left because of this. Maybe his access from Pfizer became an issue and nothing was done?
You can read his publicly available child pornography charges here.
According to the lengthy affidavit filed by a federal agent who investigated the case, Hesketh allegedly:
- Accessed a computer account that he used (under the name 'suzybibaby') to trade child pornography account while he was at Pfizer headquarters on Oct. 4-5, 2007 and January 13, 2008.
- Accessed this account from Dec. 3, 2007 - Dec. 6, 2007 while paying for a room at the Tudor Hotel a few blocks away from Pfizer headquarters
- Accessed this account while at his home in Connecticut
- Had sexually explicit conversations with another suspect where they "discussed, among other things, the sexual molestation of children involving the use of human defacation."
- "[S]hared over one thousand images, many of which were believed by the [federal] agents to be images of child pornography"
Caution: Pages 28-31 of the charges are particularly revolting.
These charges were originally sealed by the court, but subsequently became available to the public.
And perhaps he wasn't the only sexual deviant Pfizer enmployed. Check out this story:

I used to work in the Pfizer Legal Division. I know the way they work. I SUSPECT Waxman was fired because Hesketh was his direct-report and Hesketh did these things using Pfizer's equipment and network. It is extemely unlikely that Waxman was even indirectly involved with the porn itself. I can easily see Pfizer firing Waxman for this as soon as the Feds showed up with search warrants for the Pfizer server logs.
